Erectile Dysfunction (ED) is a medical condition in which a male cannot achieve or maintain an erection long or well enough to perform sexual intercourse. The most common causes of ED are cardiovascular disease, high blood pressure, diabetes, side effects from medication, excessive alcohol use, smoking, stress, and brain related injuries. In the United States, an estimated 30 million men are reported to have some ED related issues.

Our latest breakthrough in science to improve erectile function and/or treat ED effectively, is our sound-acoustic shock wave therapy called GAINSWave. PDE5 inhibitors increase blood flow to the penis, causing an erection. Brand names include Viagra, Cialis, Stendra, and Levitra. Other common treatments we use to treat ED is Caverject and/or Testosterone treatment, which low Testosterone in men is typically the leading cause of ED.

For those that do not respond well to traditional PDE5 inhibitor treatments, we offer a NEW peptide treatment that has been another breakthrough in treating ED symptoms and/or dysfunction for those trying to enhance their sexual performance. Bremelanotide PT-141 (peptide) was developed from the peptide hormone Melanotan II. In initial testing, Melanotan II induced tanning but additionally caused sexual arousal and spontaneous erections as unexpected side effects in nine out of the ten original male volunteer test subjects (Ref: Uni of Arizona Dr. Hunter Wells). Further testing showed Bremelanotide to induce lordosis (curvature of the spine) and was also effective in treating sexual dysfunction in both men with erectile dysfunction or impotence, and women with sexual arousal disorders. Unlike Viagra and other related PDE5 inhibitor medications, this medication does not act upon the vascular system but directly increases sexual desire via the nervous system. We have seen excellent results in both male and female patients who have used this medication.

WHAT MEDICATIONS MIGHT AFFECT OR CONTRIBUTE TO ED?

Diuretics, blood pressure medicines, anti-anxiety medicines, antidepressants, anti-epileptic drugs, antihistamines, muscle relaxants, Parkinson’s medicines, and chemotherapy can all have an effect on erectile function.


COULD GENETICS BE A CONTRIBUTING FACTOR TO ED?

Genetics is said to be a contributing factor of ED, but there is not enough evidence-based research data to support this.


CAN TESTOSTERONE AND PROGESTERONE THERAPY HELP TREAT ED?

Yes, they can both help through different mechanisms. Testosterone treatment not only increases blood flow and frequency of erections but also increases sexual desire. Progesterone increases an enzyme called 5-Alpha-Reductase that converts testosterone into DHT. DHT is a potent hormone in males and is responsible in part for a healthy libido.
